Astrology for the Traveller - Weather Charts   by Liz Swoboda

Full Moon and New Moon charts are calculated for the location you want to travel to. To time weather changes for any other longitude, check all transits and aspects to the Meridian or MC and IC (nadir) of the chart. Any planet aspecting that angle - whether in a lunar chart or by transit  will have a strong impression on the atmosphere and should be given serious consideration.

The Nature of the Planets

The Sun dominates the constitution of the atmosphere, the planets correspond to organic changes, and the Moon is functional, and triggers the timing of the constitutional and organic modification of weather patterns.

Mercury stationary or conjunct the Sun brings high barometer and winds, in winter; cold fronts and blizzards.

o Mars      :  strong winds

o Venus    :  gentle breeze

o Jupiter   :  fair weather

o Saturn   :  cloudiness, cooler

o Uranus   :  gusty gale force winds

o Neptune :  moist, misty

Mars is dry, and induces acute, powerful atmospheric activity.  Mars in aspect to the  Sun brings a rise in temperature.  Sun conjunct or parallel Mars affects the ocean currents in the northern hemisphere. The parallel is more intense than  the conjunction. ALL Sun-Mars configurations should be considered.

o Jupiter    : dry high temperature, particularity If on the MC

o Saturn    :  windy weather

o Uranus    : gusty weather sharp drop in temp, if in aspect to MC-IC expect storms

o Neptune  : muggy , sticky or fogs and thaws

Venus is always gentle. Conjunct the Sun - showers (intermittent rainfall with sunny weather).

o Mars        : heavy rain

o Jupiter     : rising temperature

o Saturn     : gloomy, cloudy

o Uranus     : chilly, cold - in sextile aspect cloudless skies and still air

o Neptune   : heavy rain-snow fall

Jupiter the most massive of all planets, is normally a fair weather planet. Jupiter and the Sun brings rising temp when in close aspect.

o Saturn     : thunderstorms, hailstorms or blizzard

o Neptune  :  cloudbursts, flush floods, (IC) slow thaws in winter

Saturn's influence is slow acting, heavy and concentrative. Located on MC brings cold centres and maximum moisture. Watch for the sextile aspect to the meridian or to planets as they bring falling temperatures.

o Uranus    : Parallel or all aspects bring prolonged disturbances

o Neptune  : abnormal damp weather

Uranus near or in aspect to the meridian causes unseasonably low temperatures.

o Neptune : freakish contrasting weather conditions when in aspect to the meridian

Neptune influences the weather by rising currents of air - fog or smog- low visibility. On the meridian in a lunation chart - plenty of moisture, unusual wetness and high humidity. On the nadir (4th house) floods are likely to occur.
