Sagittarius Sun

.... written by Shirley Eftoda

During the last month the Scorpionic energy attempted to clean and rid us out enough so we would have the opportunity to listen, observe and tune into our destiny path. Now from November 21st to December 21st, Sagittarius is assisting us in getting clarity about our life's purpose.

Sagittarian energy is about finding out what you want to do with your life and directing your life energies toward these goals. It seeks mental clarity. It is our minds frame of reference that alters our view and our path on this earth journey giving us the chance to explore, understand, expand and discover meaning. We must allow ourselves to listen to our intuition and recognize messages in our daily life while enjoying the freedom oriented energy. Next month it will be time to get to work and down to seriousness when the Sun moves into Capricorn.

Sagittarius is the sign of the higher mind and plays an important role in what we believe is true and real. Its territory is our beliefs and worldviews. It is our belief system that determines what we consider as possibilities, truth, and gives us meaning. How we respond and create our experiences are based on what we recognize and perceive out of all possibilities which are available to us.

Inherently Sagittarius knows that there is more. All of us hunger for experiences of the higher mind where we are connected to the Universal Truth. Known for its zealous approach to life, it must learn to use its knowledge wisely with meaningful human philosophies and guidelines. It aligns us with spiritual meaning for our existence. Sag teaches us that understanding comes through experience.

Sagittarius's quest is to discover its purpose in life. This is not a simple task as preparation is necessary. First it must obtain a vision of itself, then resolve its inherent animal/human duality, and finally integrate its instinctual and spiritual selves. The integration must be directed by the mind. Enlightenment will follow from its earthly experiences.

The ancient symbol of Sagittarius was the Centaur: half horse and half man; recently it is represented as an Archer. The arrow is the glyph. Sagittarius is a fire sign and like all fire signs (Aries, Leo) has an innate sense of its own individuality and identity coupled with a strong will driven by a deep sense of purpose. Enthusiasm comes from their own self-worth and passion for life and not from what they have achieved.

Sagittarius can be driven to excesses when their desires control their mind. There is an impulsive need for activity and satisfaction. Driven but being irresponsible and undisciplined their energy can be wasted as the mind creates unrealistic ideals to justify and rationalize its impractical pursuits. Being impulsive and very busy the fire nature of their mind is always active creating goals to go after, things to do, and desires to be satisfied. With their emotional energies running wild they are unable to discriminate between their animal desire nature and their mind.

Eventually Sagittarius becomes aware that it needs to tame and integrate its instinctual and mental energies and learns how to direct its life force. This includes not dominating their instinctive animal nature but to let it guide towards their mission. When they have integrated this aspect of themselves they will finally be able to point/aim their arrow (Sag's astrological glyph) towards their goal. The unfolding reality leads towards their destiny.

Finally the mind is mastered and the knowledge becomes wisdom. The higher mind is identified with as intuition guides the way. Now they emerge as the teacher, the visionary and the prophet as they uplift and motivate others to follow their path, inspiring others to commit to humanitarian goals. These are the ones that lead the collective mass towards a universal purpose.

A popular keyword for Sagittarius is long journeys which includes foreign lands and learning foreign languages. Later the journeys will be within which will lead to natural and universal laws that explain life. These laws will be known through intuition as Sagittarius simultaneously becomes the student, the teacher and the teachings while offering a life-long course in philosophy, religion and spirituality.

In conclusion, Sag must be its own teacher. Sag revolts against external authority and rules as it is the inner authority that it seeks. It knows that one's inner authority is what gives one the power and the freedom to actively live life and experience vaster realities. Devoted to finding its inner truth through subjective experiences the knowledge is gathered that gives them the most gracious qualities of optimism, enthusiasm and celebration of life.
