EAS ~ History

EAS Natal Event Chart

The E.A.S. (Edmonton Astrological Society) was Founded in 1977, by Chris McRae and her students at that time. The first meeting was held on December 10th 1977 at 1:58 p.m.

The EAS was conceived as a vehicle to enable people with varied astrological acumen to meet and work together. The success of this society is due to the common denominator of its' members as they developed a strong organizational nucleus which reflects their unique enthusiasm and powerful desire to work towards building an enduring organization.

EAS Members for 20 years: Chris, Inge, Liz, Bea and Linda

Edmonton Astrological Society 20 Year "Certificate of Merit" was presented in 1997 to the five members of the EAS that maintained their membership continuously for 20 years.

They are: Chris McRae, Inge Lohse, Liz Swoboda, Bea Cox-Gould and Linda Sendziak.

The EAS provides it's members with the opportunity to do their own research and exploration in all areas of astrology and then share that information with the rest of the group at monthly workshops. In this way members become comfortable with publicly sharing their insights. The E. A. S. has made a reputation for itself for the quality of speakers that it generates.

Our most esteemed and best known international lecturer is Chris McRae, PMAFA. Chris has always encouraged EAS members to spread their wings. As a result many members of the EAS , such as Liz Swoboda  AMAFA and Inge Lohse  AMAFA are sought as speakers by other astrological organizations and conferences across North America.

Although the emphasis is on learning and sharing ideas and concepts, the membership consists of people at all levels of expertise in astrology, from those who are just beginning - to those who have been teaching and lecturing for well over thirty years.

Beyond the monthly meetings held the second Friday of the month from September through May, the Society also hosts an annual Astrological Weekend Retreat in June, for it's members and friends.

For ten years from 1987 to 1997, alternately with the Calgary Astrological Association the EAS hosted the Alberta Astrological Connection conference in Red Deer Alberta during the last weekend of Libra, each year.

Many founding members remain active in the society today. The original principles and values hold true today as the society grows ever stronger by encouraging new and vigorous minds to share and learn together.
