Betty Solar Arc

April 10, 1996 - was the day my world changed. It began with the reading of a statement found in “The Horoscope, The Road and Its Travelers”, by Alan Oken. The statement read; “According to occult philosophy, the life span of an individual is eighty-four years, which can be broken down into twelve; seven-year cycles, one for each sign of the Zodiac.” I read further, waiting for the explanation on this statement. The explanation was; “In addition, eighty-four years is the length of one orbit of Uranus around the Sun. If we subtract 84 from 360 (the number of degrees of the ecliptic), we get 276, or the approximate number of days of the human gestation period. Thus we can say that from conception to birth, the Sun travels through 276 degrees of the ecliptic, but in order to complete its journey through all 360 degrees, 84 degrees, or days, are necessary. If we take each day after birth and equate that with a year of life, we have the symbolic basis for the predictive method known as Secondary Progressions”. (page 298-299).

This I understood, but I did not see the correlation of twelve seven-year cycles, one for each sign of the Zodiac.

What this statement meant to me is that 84 degrees or years are necessary to complete the 360 degrees of the Wheel of our life. These 84 degrees are lived in twelve, seven-year cycles (signs) and thus HOUSES of the Horoscope. The Betty Arc theory allows for every individual to live the entire chart from 00 degrees of the birth Sun sign to 29 degrees of the birth Sun sign in the first 7 years of life in the house or houses of the Chart where 00 degrees of the birth Sun sign begin to 29 degrees. We then progress in each successive sign/house around the Wheel, until we have completed our journey of 360 degrees in 84 years. We have then become our Sun sign, and are ready to repeat the process all over again until we have ended our sojourn on this Earth.

The Betty Arc Sun progresses at a rate of 4.28 degrees per year. Divide 30 degrees of a sign by 7 years.

The Betty Arc begins it’s progression at 00 degrees of the Sun sign as that is the beginning degree of a sign. Your Natal Sun maybe at any degree in the 30 degrees of the sign at birth, and when the Betty Arc progresses to your Natal Sun degree, your conscious life begins. You are now aware of yourself, have memories that are your own, not given from another’s point of view, and you are beginning to make choices. The energy patterns, aspects to Natal planets, which are set up at birth, remain constant in our lives. They do not progress, but transform in our consciousness. The only exception to this is the progressed Secondary Moon, as it is the reflection of the Sun. Without the reflection beaming back at us, we would not have awareness of our actions and ourselves.

Each chart or Horoscope that is drawn and deemed to be an accurate map of the potentials for each individual, is uniquely their own. The Sun sign is that which we are trying to become, the Houses are the teachers of life experience on our journey, and the aspects in the Natal Chart are the lessons, character, we have come to work on. To truly see the life unfold and be experienced as the Chart shows it to be, follow the Sun as it travels from sign to sign every seven years and unwrap the mystery.

Cycle 2 – Next sign	Age 8 to 14 years – Semi-Sextile to Natal Sun
Cycle 3 – Next sign	Age 15 to 21 years – Sextile to Natal Sun
Cycle 4 – Next sign	Age 22 to 28 years – Square to Natal Sun
Cycle 5 – Next sign	Age 29 to 35 years – Trine to Natal Sun
Cycle 6 – Next sign	Age 36 to 42 years – Inconjunct to Natal Sun
Cycle 7 – Next sign	Age 43 to 49 years – Opposition to Natal Sun
Cycle 8 – Next sign	Age 50 to 56 years – Inconjunct to Natal Sun
Cycle 9 – Next sign	Age 57 to 63 years – Trine to Natal Sun
Cycle 10 – Next sign	Age 64 to 70 years – Square to Natal Sun
Cycle 11 – Next sign	Age 71 to 77 years – Sextile to Natal Sun
Cycle 12 – Next sign	Age 78 to 84 years – Semi-Sextile to Natal Sun

To time the events in our lives, we must break down the Cycle into one 7-year block and see the degrees of movement of the Sun as follows:

Cycle One ~ Age 00 to 7 years

Birth to 1 year	Sun travels 0 to 4 degrees in the Birth sign
1-2 years old	Sun travels 5 to 8 degrees in the Birth Sign
2-3 years old	Sun travels 9 to 12 degrees in the Birth Sign
3-4 years old	Sun travels 13 to 17 degrees in the Birth Sign
4-5 years old	Sun travels 18 to 21 degrees in the Birth Sign
5-6 years old	Sun travels 22 to 25 degrees in the Birth Sign
6-7 years old	Sun travels 26 to 29 degrees in the Birth Sign

These degrees of movement remain constant through out the Cycles. The only change is that the Betty Arc Sun will have progressed to the next consecutive sign in the Zodiac. As the Betty Arc progresses, the aspects to the Natal planets will change. As they change so does our consciousness.
